Special Programs - Robotics

Robotics is a tool for learning about science, technology and design through experience and discovery

Robotics at the Middle Schools

Using the Lego Mindstorm NXT kits, middle school students learn Robotics in a lab setting where students develop their own solutions to both pre-determined tasks and their own. Students use their imaginations, trial and error, and mathematics to design, build, program, and test their solutions collaboratively.  Students use  the engineering design process to solve problems as they build and test their ideas .

Robotics at the High School

Building on skills learned in middle school, the past, present and future world of Robotics is explored at North Middlesex Regional High School. Working alone and in small groups, students in the high school explore basic electronics and further develop and expand their knowledge of robotics. Students use Robix and Vex Robots to simulate industrial robots and robotic vehicles. They program in both Basic and C based languages or use radio control to command the robots. To build an autonomous robot, students must learn the basic concepts of mechanics, engineering, and computer programming. They must also learn the skills of effective communication, teamwork and problem solving.
